Born in Hokkaido, Japan and having moved to Winnipeg in 2002 , Takashi Iwasaki has become a staple in the Winnipeg art community. In addition to founding the infamous Semai gallery he has became know for his colourful embroideries, paintings and wood sculptures.
As a result of time spent exploring the formal qualities of his practice, Iwasaki has developed a unique, lively and graphic language for his imagery. His focus now centers on a visual recording of his daily life and imaginary worlds. Ultimately these images are representation and reflection of Iwasaki state of mind.
